Naomi Anderson

For some reason, I bruise like a peach. I don’t have enough vitamin C, I think.” — Lauren Cohan

Hello, I’m Naomi! I’m 17, turning 18 in December! I love pandas, dogs, The Walking Dead, Stranger Things, and The 100! I love to write, which is why I joined The Pulse. I like writing about things I LOVE because I get very into it and then it all just flows out!

Imagine Dragons keeps me from going insane and I can replay The Last of Us one hundred times in a row and not get tired of it!! Everyone says I look like Moana or Rosario Dawson, so I guess that’s a good thing about me! People say I’m pretty funny too. My sons (people call them dogs?) Nigel and Milo are everything to me and I give them all the love and attention in the world!

I LOVE MY MOMMA! When I get older I want to be a crime scene investigator, kinda like Dexter Morgan, minus being a serial killer. My favorite actresses are Lauren Cohan and Marie Avgeropoulos. GLENN RHEE DESERVED BETTER. Enjoy my writings.

Taylor Johansen

“Love it or leave it, You better gain way

You better hit bull’s eye, The kid don’t play

If there was a problem, Yo, I’ll solve it”

— Vanilla Ice, Ice Ice Baby

Hey, hey, what’s the haps, daddy-o’s and all others. It’s me, Taylor, and you’re reading my bio. Goodness, ain’t life grand? I mean, here we are, you readin’ about me, me writing something interesting for you to read…. Ah, we have fun.

Anyways! I’m a senior at ITHS&A, and somehow they’ve let me stay in this school this long. I dunno why or how. But, I’m here. I do staff writing, because writing is perhaps the thing I’m best at, and I write primarily entertainment stuff since I never leave the house and all I know is video games and movies. Hard news? What’s that? I’m a huge dang nerd, that’s for certain.

Eugh… what else, what else, lemme see now…. Are you still reading? You look really nice today. I promise I’m not just being facetious. Did you do something new with your hair? Lovely, lovely. Now go, read some stuff I wrote. You’ll get a much better understanding of who I am that way.

Julia Balli

I’ve been writing since I was a little kid. In fact, you can still find journals littered around my room from elementary school, which most of the time I ranted in them about how Sara stole my Skittles or something. I can promise that, for the most part, my writing has improved since then. Nowadays I like being able to present my ideas, thoughts, and arguments through writing. If you know me, you probably think I’m quiet, which you’re not wrongI am. I want to speak my mind, but I am awful with words. So that’s why I joined The Pulse, so that I am able to express my thoughts without getting extremely flustered and stuttering every five seconds.

A little bit about me is that I’m a senior in general studies, and I’m ready to get the heck out of here and graduate. As of right now I want to major in journalism in college, but we’ll see how that goes. I’ve changed my mind about what I want to major in a solid ten times, so hopefully journalism is my final decision.

I like to listen to music. I love alternative rock, and I’m obsessed with the band Muse. If you like them as much as I do, chances are I will want to be your best friend. But I like all kinds of music.

Anyways, I hope you enjoy my content throughout the year, and most importantly I hope you enjoy The Pulse!

Joshua Navarro

It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one’s mouth and remove all doubt.”  — Mark Twain

Somehow you’ve become bored enough to read the staff bios. But while you’re here let me let me give you something to read. For those who care, my interests include drawing, art, stand-up comedy and music. I’m not into writing as much though, as you may be able to tell from my bio. But hey, if worst comes to worst, I’ll crank out an article or two. But mainly you’ll see my work in the form of illustrations and comics within the newspaper. So take a look at those and hopefully I can put a smile on your face for a second.

Nydia Ramos

“Don’t wait… Speak Now” — Taylor Swift
My name is Nydia Ramos and I am junior in the Communications Academy here at Indian Trail. I aspire to be a best-selling writer, specifically of poetry novels. Writing is my passion, which is why I’m trying my hand at working for The Pulse. I spend most of my time listening to Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran and Glee covers. My favorite shows are Glee, The Big Bang Theory and The Office, 10/10 would recommend.

I love to spend a lot of time with friends in downtown Kenosha and just enjoying the lake. I hope to bring a fresh angle and attitude to the school newspaper and have some fun doing it.

Matthew Swihart

“How you doin’?” – Joey Tribianni

Hey! How’s it going? I’m Matt Swihart, I’m a writer over here on The Pulse. You might know me from the quirky editorials and restaurant reviews. Movies are actually my one true love. I could spend all my weekends watching movies and consider that a weekend well spent. I love video games, especially The Legend of Zelda. If you even so mention A Link to the Past to me, we’ll probably be best friends. I love writing, especially doing humor writing. You’ll probably be able to tell what articles are mine before you even look at the byline. I hope you enjoy what I write, new friends.

Nashby Carbajal

Hello, my name is Nashby Carbajal. I am an Indian Trail Communications Acadeny senior and this is my first time being involved in the school’s newspaper. I love anything involving a creative mind, including drawing, film, photography, graphic design and now writing. I never thought of myself as a writer but I now like the feeling of writing stories on news going on around in school or in the world. I love learning new things and this will give me a great opportunity to also improve my photography skills. I love listening to music and doing hair. I’m hoping to have a great final year and I hope you read and enjoy my stories!

Katrina Jansen-Buciuni

“I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.”    Philippians 4:13

Hello people of the internet! I am Katrina, or known as that girl who is really tall. But hey, at least I’m confident enough to say that! So you’ve probably seen me around school, wearing my ‘basic’ outfit which consists of a pair of jeans and a striped shirt with some beat-up converse.

I’d consider myself a pretty funny gal with a dash of embarrassment along the way (so let’s just make a joke about all of it). I tend to laugh too much and talk too loud, as my family and teachers tell me. But honestly, I have no idea what they’re talking about. I probably eat too much pasta, but that’s nothing new, and tend to overthink pretty much everything that comes to mind, but I just roll with it. My passion used to be volleyball, but now it’s thrifting. Give up exercising for shopping? Sounds like a good DEAL to me. Ha, get it?

Well I really love children, so I plan to pursue education once I start the new chapter of my life in college. I’m still in shock I’m a senior, but I’ll always be a child at heart.

I aspire to be something special in this world, wherever I go as my future starts, and make a mark on something. I’m not sure what yet, but when I find out, I hope you will notice!

Well, that’s it for now! I hope you have an amazing day!

Signing off from yours truly, Katrina.

Deven Short

“I have no special talents. I am only passionately curious.” — Albert Einstein

“A day without sunshine is like, you know, night.” — Steve Martin

Hello, my name is Deven and I love art, mostly in 3D rendering and graphic design. I’m in the Communications Academy. I work at McDonalds on Green Bay Road, I am a cook and also a presenter. I enjoy playing games on the Xbox One: Overwatch, Resident Evil, and Rainbow Six Siege. I also enjoy cooking, I create my own recipes like sweet and spicy meatballs or spicy rice. I’m also a beginner at speaking Japanese, Chinese, and Spanish.

I want to go into Game Development as a 3D environmental artist and graphic designer. I’m committed to  3D rendering and can talk about it all day. I joined Newspaper to enhance my skills in graphic design and illustration. I spend most of my time studying 3D renders and models or working.

Amanda Velasco

“I don’t like to gamble but if there’s one thing I’m willing to bet on it’s myself.” — Beyonce

Hello! My name is Amanda Velasco, I’m a 17- year- old senior and I enjoy dancing, journal writing and of course taking pictures! As a child I have always loved the thought of snapping a picture and keeping it as a memory. The reason why I joined The Pulse was to speak my mind, writing it on a piece of paper, and of course to show our awesome school spirit! In my future career I will be studying journalism and the basics of journal writing. I also adore traveling. After high school I plan to explore new cities and countries. I hope you enjoy the articles that I’ll be writing and also the pictures I will be taking. Keep calm and make sure to checkout The Pulse.

Jasmine Pascual

“Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in awhile, you could miss it.” — Ferris Bueller

Hi, my name is Jasmine and I’m a Communications Academy senior at Indian Trail High School and Academy. I’m just an ordinary teenage girl trying to get out of here and graduate. I’ve been a Communications student since I was a freshman. But because I’m a pretty quiet person in public without even trying, you may have not seen me in the halls. I’ve always been the “shy girl” in a classroom and I’ve learned that it’s actually completely okay. Sometimes people may see my shyness as something else, but I promise you I’m a really kind person. After high school, I don’t know what I want to specifically major in but I do enjoy writing, thus the reason why I joined The Pulse. I struggle with words, but I found that when I write, it’s effortless. And if binge-watching Netflix were a sport, I’d be a champ. I have three small dogs at home that I adore with all my heart. I have a lot of favorite movies but a classic for me is Back to the Future and one of my favorite shows is Friends.

Dimitrios Kontogiannis

“I have a structured settlement and I need cash now!” – JG Wentworth (877-CASH-NOW)

Hey, I’m Dimitrios or known as your boy D. I enjoy long walks on the beach at sunset, just kidding! NBA 2k is my main baller, HA get it? I consider myself pretty funny so pull up a seat and grab some popcorn because this is about to get really corny.

Alright guys so the only things you really need to know about me is that I’m a senior in the Communications Academy,  the only reason half the people at this school know me is because my girlfriend is popular, and my dream is to be a sports journalist. When I shave my beard I look really ugly so I don’t plan on doing that soon, and I pride myself on being the best procrastinator in the state of Wisconsin. Hey, I even procrastinated this very biography! Enjoy my cringey writing boys.

Sarah Therrien

“Values are like fingerprints: Nobody’s are the same, but you leave ‘em all over everything you do.” — Elvis Presley

Hi there! I am a junior the General Studies who loves her family, is obsessed with any dog that crosses her path, and who has a passion for writing. Someone who influences me is Jennifer Lawrence, I love her as a person and actress and if I could meet any famous person alive today, it would be her. If Elvis Presley was still alive, it would be him because, wow, was he good looking. I’m currently trying to find a way to build a time machine so I can go back to when he was still alive and young and make him fall in love with me, but while I work on figuring that out, how about you kick up your feet, relax, and enjoy some writing brought to you by The Pulse!

Reina Werth

“The heart is an arrow. It demands aim to land true,” — Inej, Six of Crows, Leigh Bardugo

Hello! My name is Reina, and I am 17 years old. I love to read, dance, and write. After college, I hope to be an English teacher. At least, that’s my plan!

I’m the captain of the Battle of the Books team, and I’ve been on the team for the past three years. My favorite books (as you can never pick just one) include all of the Harry Potter Series (excluding The Cursed Child), The Handmaid’s Tale, and All the Light We Cannot See.

I’ve been dancing for as long as I can remember, and I take classes in pointe, ballet, and lyrical. I’m also involved with Sparrow Dance Company, a non-profit dance company. We use all of the profit from ticket sales to “adopt” animals. We have funded a vampire bat, panda bear, polar bear, and many more.

I have two sisters. My older sister, Angel, is a sophomore Clemson University, and is double majoring in Horticulture and Spanish. My younger sister, Jaden, is a freshman at Elkhorn Area High School

Alexis Steagall

“I believe in the good things coming.” — Nahko Bear

Hello, It’s me… HA… okay I am truly sorry (not really). I’ll stop myself right there. My name is Alexis Steagall and if I am being 100 percent honest with you, as a writer I enjoy sifting through my cluttered, abstract brain and putting my thoughts onto paper. But when it comes to organizing the millions of ideas zigzagging through my mind and formulating ideas that people can actually understand and relate to, it can be difficult. And if I am being 1000 percent honest with you, this has been one of the hardest assignments throughout my entire high school career. Sure it’s difficult interviewing strangers and covering news stories, but have you ever tried interviewing yourself? I am supposed to make myself seem interesting right now. I can tell you’re not impressed. Maybe I can stall long enough that you will become distracted by a pop up ad or something….

Oh? You’re still here? I don’t know whether or not to thank you or shoo you away because there are definitely better things you can do with your life. I guess I should get on with it then.

I have somehow managed to find myself right here, writing for The Pulse. Apart from writing, I have a strong calling to the ocean. If I’m not writing, I am filling my brain with as many facts about the sea as I can. Another passion of mine is capturing the world’s beauty through my camera lens. Lately I’ve found myself bouncing between my three callings in an effort to choose career and balance it out with traveling. I don’t think I can give up any one of my dreams, therefore I’ve decided that no matter the cost I will find a way to combine my passions. I am taking the dangerous path in life to ensure I can live freely and happily. Anyways, that’s enough about me; I’m sure you came here to read The Pulse online, so get to reading my friend!

Adelina Gonzalez

“If at first you don’t succeed, then skydiving definitely isn’t for you.”  —Steven Wright

Aye, what’s poppin’ my dudes. Adelina here coming at ya with a weak attempt at being hip with the kids. Other than failing at attempted humor I enjoy ramen noodles and Netflix. Well I mean, I kinda have a love/hate relationship with Netflix. When you’re looking for a show to watch, you don’t find diddly squat but when you aren’t looking for a show, you fall in love with one and fall into this dark downward spiral of binge watching all weekend until all of a sudden you look up at the screen after the episodes stop playing automatically one after another and it’s Tuesday morning BUT I digress. It’s a good pass time most of the time.

I’ve always loved to write, when I was younger my sisters and I would buy little notebooks and fill them with short stories and comics we created ourselves, each one more outrageous than the other. I’d say even though I didn’t get out much I had a pretty creatively rich childhood, any child who comes up with concept art for short story called ‘Super Awkward Octopus High’ didn’t need friends anyway. I had my imagination to keep me busy.

Welp, I had fun entertaining you for a hot second. I hope you find my writing as strangely fascinating as I find Dorito tacos to be. Is it a chip or a meal? IT CAN’T BE BOTH.
